The Shroud of Turin: An Immersive Experience, a groundbreaking 360-degree journey opening Jubilee 2025 at Orange County's Richard H. Pickup Cultural Center. This experience combines stunning 4D recreations of the resurrection and an examination of the world's most studied artifact,The Shroud of Turin. Through both evidence and scriptural insight, visitors will be challenged to reflect on the timeless question: "Who do you say that I am?" Whether you're seeking to deepen your faith, explore the intersection of science and spirituality, or simply witness an extraordinary fusion of history and art, this advanced immersive experience promises to engage, inspire, and transform your understanding of one of history's most pivotal moments.
The Roman Catholic Diocese of Orange and Othonia, are thrilled to announce a new, permanent exhibit, “The Shroud of Turin: An Immersive Experience” on the second floor of the Richard H. Pickup Cultural Center.
Join us for a world-class encounter with the historical Jesus, inside the museum-quality Cultural Center. Patrons will witness pivotal moments from Jesus’ life in a cinematic marvel, explore the Shroud of Turin where faith meets forensics, and contemplate the Resurrection in a 360-degree theater. Through innovative technology and thoughtful storytelling, visitors will experience the reality of Jesus’ sacrifice and resurrection in a way that will resonate long after the visit.
In the immersive “Life of Jesus” theater, state-of-the-art projection brings to life 10 pivotal, scriptural stories from the Annunciation to the Crucifixion. This powerful encounter makes ancient history feel immediate and relevant for all audiences - offering a unique way to connect with Jesus’ story.
The interactive Shroud of Jesus theater offers a state-of-the-art multimedia presentation on this
extensively studied artifact. High-resolution images reveal intricate details, including the 3D-encoded image, bloodstains, and pollen traces from the ancient world.
The immersive Risen theater provides a 4-D experience showcasing post Resurrection events. Medieval architecture, candlelight, and an ancient soundtrack will enhance the viewing experience. This journey through time brings biblical narratives to life and how The Shroud of Turin connects to these stories. The experience concludes with quiet contemplation of the question: “Who is the man of the shroud?”
The museum gallery features items such as a life-size Shroud reproduction, thirty Othonia produced museum panels, touchscreen kiosks, LED displays on the Shroud’s history & science, lenticulars and Passion object reconstructions, a life-size bronze statue sculpted to the exact dimensions of the shroud.

WHEN AND WHERE?
The exhibit will open in November 2025. It will be located on the second floor of the Richard H. Pickup Cultural Center designed by architect Richard Meier (who then similarly designed the Getty Center Museum in L.A.).
This is a unique partnership between The Diocese of Orange and Othonia along with a team of renowned global Shroud experts including: Fr. Robert Spitzer, SJ, Fr. Andrew Dalton, LC STD, and Professor Emanuela Marinelli. It is built on a 20-year local history of Shroud projects and efforts by the The Southern California Shroud Center here in Orange County.
