A Very Faint Image
The image on the Shroud is remarkable. It does not penetrate the threads, but rather “sits” on the very surface of them.
Each linen thread on the Shroud is made up of dozens of microscopic fibers. Scientists have discovered that the image only darkens two to four of the very outermost fibers. That’s less than half the diameter of a human hair. The image does not even penetrate the cell wall of the discolored fibers.
Even more fascinating is how the image behaves under light. When viewed up close, it nearly disappears. If you shine a light through the fabric, the image vanishes completely and you only see the bloodstains.
And here is where the mystery deepens – the image wasn’t painted, burned, or applied with any known artistic method. The image has no brushstrokes, no dye, no paint, no stains – nothing that indicates human artistry.
Despite modern technology, no one has been able to replicate the image.
The scientists in the STURP team did extensive research on the Shroud and reached a bold conclusion: the image is not the work of an artist.
So who – or what – created this image? Science has yet to provide a definitive answer, leaving the mystery unexplained.

Y aquí es donde se profundiza el misterio: la imagen no fue pintada, quemada ni aplicada con ningún método artístico conocido. La imagen no tiene pinceladas, ni tinte, ni pintura, ni manchas, nada que indique la mano del hombre.
A pesar de la tecnología moderna, nadie ha sido capaz de reproducir la imagen.
Los científicos del equipo STURP investigaron a fondo la Sábana Santa y llegaron a una conclusión audaz: la imagen no es obra de un artista.
¿Quién o qué creó esta imagen? La ciencia aún no ha dado una respuesta definitiva, por lo que el misterio sigue sin explicación.

Hình ảnh nhìn rõ nhất khi đứng xa và hầu như biến mất khi nhìn gần. Khi chiếu sáng truyền qua từ phía sau, hình ảnh hoàn toàn không thấy. Lý do là hình chỉ hiện trên bề mặt ngoài của sợi vải, không xuyên vào bên trong tấm vải đươc.
Dự án Nghiên cứu Tấm Khăn thành Tô-rin (STURP) kết luận rằng hình ảnh không phải là sản phẩm của một nghệ sĩ . Không có sắc tố, sơn, thuốc nhuộm hay vết bẩn nào, cũng không có nét cọ hay hướng vẽ nào trên hình ảnh.
